Rituals To Cultivate An Attitude Of Gratitude (Podcast Episode 88)

How To Cultivate An Attitude Of Gratitude

Having an attitude of gratitude is one of the most important (and often overlooked) steps to successful manifestation of your desires.

Now more than ever, it’s hard to stay in your own lane and focus on what’s good in your life when the entire world seems to be on social media, playing the comparison game!

But here’s the thing: if you’re constantly expending all your energy feeling jealous and unworthy, the Universe is only going to reflect at you more of the same bad vibes.

Success is not a destination, it’s a state of mind.

The best way to manifest the feeling of success in your own life TODAY is to start adopting an attitude of gratitude!

In this episode of the Alchemy Of Affluence Podcast, I’m sharing with you the easiest little hack that helped me take my life from MUNDANE to MAGICKAL during a time in my life that was not exactly super glamorous!

So what is a gratitude mindset?

Basically, a gratitude mindset is where you are always focused on being thankful for what you have…

And doing that actually gives you the ability to see more opportunities to manifest more things to be grateful for in your life.

So how do you get started having a gratitude mindset? Well, let me just tell you a quick little story about how I discovered the ability to do this.

I was going through a really rough time in my life, and I was utterly frustrated with everything. It was one of those times when it was really hard to see the good in my situation. But at the same time, I was finding my magic and realizing that I could really affect change in my reality instead of just accepting everything and being complacent.

So I read a book which suggested that try waking up every morning and thinking of 10 things that I’m grateful for before even getting out of bed. And then as I’d go through my day, I tried to remember each and every little thing that I encountered that that I could be thankful for.

I started doing that, and my entire life felt like it started to shift almost instantly. It was crazy. I would lay in bed, and instead of dreading what I would have to do that day, or being frustrated by things that had happened the previous day or whatever, I started my day by literally thinkingthe first 10 things that came to my mind that I was thankful for – Even if they were the tiniest little things.

It would just shift my energy from being negative to taking the positive approach. And then I would get up and I would go into the bathroom and brush my teeth. And instead of being annoyed that, say maybe my roommate didn’t clean the bathroom – Instead, I would say, “I am so thankful to have running water. I’m so thankful that I can turn this faucet and it’s hot, and I can turn this one and it’s cold. I’m so thankful that I have toothpaste and a nice toothbrush. I am so thankful for my flushing toilet – Because how hard would life be if we didn’t have that simple luxury?” I’d go into the kitchen and make my coffee and I’d say, “I’m thankful to have this coffee.” And I would just keep going from there.

At first it seemed kind of tedious, like, am I supposed to do this all day every day? But I decided to kind of make a game out of it and really enjoy how many things I could actually remember being thankful for. And after a while I didn’t even have to be obsessive about it anymore. It just started to cultivate into my mindset to automatically feel gratitude towards everything that was useful and convenient in my life.

Fast forwarding to today, I don’t have to wake up and immediately obsessively list all these things that I’m thankful for. It just naturally happens. Every time I flush the toilet, something in my mind (without even having to bring it to the forefront) says, “thank you for my many blessings.” Every single little thing in your life that you could so easily take for granted is an opportunity for you to start cultivating a gratitude mindset.

So, what is the point of having a gratitude mindset? What does it actually do for you? Well, it does a couple of things. It can really get you out of a low mindset. And when you’re having a good day, it can also just amplify your good day. And most importantly, it can really show you the opportunities in your life for more things that you can manifest and be thankful for.

I have an example of a time when my sister and I were traveling, and we were just having the worst travel experience ever. We got lost several times, and my sister was driving a stick shift and her foot was starting to hurt from having to press the different pedals. And it was a rainstorm. Everything seemed to be going wrong. But we knew that we had to get through the situation and there was nothing we could do to get out of the fact that we had to find our way home.

So we started this game. It was called the “at least” game. And every time something would trigger us, we would just say, “well, at least we’re safe. And at least the heat is working in the car. At least the windshield wipers are working. At least that lightning strike that struck in front of us didn’t hit us.” – Just all of the crazy little things that we could say “at least” about.

And moving on from that experience, once I learned that gratitude mindset was actually a thing, I no longer really like to say “at least” anymore, because the word “least” has to do with lack. So it still kind of has that connotation of “things are kind of crappy, but I’ll try and make the best of it.”

So I’ve shifted it to just say “I am thankful for” instead of “at least.” In any case, I’ve learned that a gratitude mindset can help you through any situation. And now, when I think back of that ridiculous trip me and my sister were on, it’s one of my fondest memories of bonding with my sister and starting to cultivate a gratitude mindset in our lives.

So going to the other example of having an amazing day and making it even more amazing – Suppose you wake up and you’re already feeling pretty good. And you want to make sure that you keep those good vibes going. You can do that just as simply as having a gratitude mindset throughout your entire day, and that will help you to stay on track and keep you magnifying that good mood that you’re already in.

The thing about having a good mood is – It’s contagious! So everybody else who you come into contact with that day can feel that you’re in a good mood and that you have good vibes. And whether they display it to you publicly or not, there’s probably going to be a little shift that happens in them and allows them to have a little bit of a better day and then continue passing that energy on.

So that’s how you can use a gratitude mindset to improve your life and the environment around you. But what about manifesting? What does gratitude actually have to do with manifesting? Let’s look at the spiritual part side of things…

The way the Law Of Attraction works is it magnifies more of what you’re already feeling. So if you’re typically feeling a lack mentality and you’re frustrated and you’re listing all the things that are pissing you off, the Universe is going to be like, “alright, well if that’s the road you want to be on, here’s more things to piss you off.”

But if you decide instead that you’re going to more consistently focus on all of the things that you’re already thankful for, the Universe is like, “oh, awesome, so you’re thankful for all that stuff? Well, here’s some more stuff to be thankful for.”

And to take that out of the woo-woo side of things and back into like the mindset stuff and the tangible action, it makes perfect sense. Because when you’re hardwired to see things to be thankful for, you’re more likely to see opportunities for more things that you can bring into your life. So if you’re walking around being grumpy about everything, and you see a quarter on the sidewalk, and you’re like, “a quarter? I want to manifest $1,000! Screw that quarter!” then you’re actively blocking the energy of gratitude.

But if you’re having a day where you’re going through your life listing everything that you’re thankful for, you’re like, “oh look, and I also found a quarter! That’s an extra quarter that I can use at the laundromat later. This is awesome!”

And just things like that start to build upon each other until the next thing you know, you’re seeing opportunities in everything – Instead of seeing lack in everything. And it gets bigger and bigger and greater and greater until you’re manifesting huge, insanely awesome things that you never would have been able to manifest if you were too busy looking at the darker side of things.

So that, in a nutshell, is what it means to have a gratitude mindset. I really hope my story was helpful to you. And I invite you to take this as a homework assignment today to just list everything that you’re thankful for in a journal if you can. That’ll get you to start shifting your focus into the direction of magnetic gratitude. Once you’re done with your journaling, just make it a point to be thankful for every single little thing that you come across in the day. That makes your life a little bit better.

Start noticing the new and inventive ways that you can start to feel grateful in your life, and the things that you start manifesting as a result!
